Breckenridge, Colorado
Something about Breckenridge makes you want to slow down.
Maybe it’s the way the mountains rise above the historic streets. Maybe it’s the golden glow of the aspens in September, the quiet stillness of a snowy morning, or the way the light moves across the Tenmile Range at sunrise.
Or maybe it’s simply the feeling of being somewhere beautiful with the person you love most.
A Breckenridge elopement lets you make your wedding day an experience.
You can exchange vows overlooking Lake Dillon, explore a high-alpine pass, wander through golden aspen forests, ride a gondola together, hike toward a mountain lake, or spend a slow afternoon exploring town before celebrating over an intimate dinner.
Your wedding day doesn’t have to fit into a traditional timeline.
It can look like you.
Coverage Begins At $2500
Why Elope in Breckenridge?
Breckenridge is one of my favorite Colorado mountain destinations for couples who want a little bit of everything.
You have dramatic alpine scenery, beautiful lakes, aspen forests, hiking trails, ski resort adventures, charming historic streets, incredible places to stay, and plenty of options for celebrating after your vows.
And unlike some remote Colorado elopement destinations, you don’t have to sacrifice comfort to have an adventurous wedding day.
You can spend the morning hiking through the mountains and be back in town for a beautiful dinner that evening.
You can wake up in a cozy cabin, get ready together, exchange vows somewhere breathtaking, and end the night beside a fireplace.
You can bring your closest people or keep the day completely private.

Summit County Elopements
Breckenridge lets you build the wedding day around your relationship—not around a list of traditions.
Breckenridge is especially beautiful for couples who want:
Dramatic mountain views without an all-day hike
High-alpine adventures
Alpine lakes and mountain reservoirs
Golden aspen forests
Sunrise or sunset ceremonies
Summer wildflowers
Snowy winter elopements
A romantic mountain town to explore
Beautiful cabins, hotels, and resorts
An intimate dinner after the adventure
And because Breckenridge is surrounded by so many incredible locations throughout Summit County, your elopement day doesn’t have to happen in just one place.
We can build a full experience around your story.

Breckenridge Elopement FAQ
The Best Places to Elope in Breckenridge
No single Breckenridge elopement location is perfect.
The best location depends on the kind of experience you want.
Do you want to walk only a few minutes to an incredible view?
Do you want to hike into the mountains?
Would you rather exchange vows beside the water?
Or do you picture yourselves standing above the treeline with nothing but mountains in every direction?
Here are some of the locations I love considering for Breckenridge elopements.

Sapphire Point Overlook
Lake views, mountain views, and an accessible ceremony location
Sapphire Point is one of the best-known ceremony locations in the Breckenridge and Summit County area.
Perched above Lake Dillon at approximately 9,500 feet, the overlook looks across the reservoir toward the Gore and Tenmile mountain ranges. The short loop makes it a great option for couples who want incredible scenery without a strenuous hike.
For 2026, the ceremony area has transitioned to the North Overlook, which became the designated event site after June 14, 2026.
Sapphire Point is especially wonderful if you’re bringing a handful of loved ones or want an accessible ceremony followed by portraits and exploring nearby.
Perfect for:
Intimate ceremonies
Couples bringing family
Lake and mountain views
Sunrise or sunset
Couples who don’t want a strenuous hike
One thing to know: Sapphire Point is a public, non-exclusive area. A reservation doesn’t close the overlook to other visitors, so choosing the right time and planning your timeline can make a big difference.
Coverage Begins At $2500
Lake Dillon
Quiet water, mountain reflections, and room to breathe
Lake Dillon gives you a completely different feeling from a high-alpine mountain pass
.
The water stretches beneath the surrounding peaks, creating beautiful reflections and wide-open views. It’s peaceful, expansive, and especially beautiful in the early morning when the lake can feel almost completely still.
You can make Lake Dillon the focus of your ceremony or incorporate it into a larger Breckenridge adventure.
Imagine starting your morning here before heading higher into the mountains for portraits.
Or ending your elopement beside the water as the evening light settles across the peaks.
Perfect for:
Lakeside moments
Sunrise
Summer and fall
Couples who love water
Relaxed, intimate celebrations

Loveland Pass
For couples who want to feel surrounded by the mountains
If your dream elopement involves standing above treeline with the Continental Divide stretching around you, Loveland Pass is hard to beat.
The landscape feels wild and cinematic—rugged peaks, alpine tundra, dramatic skies, and mountain roads winding through the high country.
This is a place for couples who want their wedding photographs to feel big, windswept, and completely Colorado.
You can also incorporate it into a larger adventure day rather than making it the only location.
Perfect for:
High-alpine adventures
Dramatic portraits
Sunrise
Mountain-loving couples
Short hikes with huge scenery
Because you’re at high elevation, weather can change quickly. I always recommend having a flexible timeline and backup plan when planning an elopement this high.

Boreas Pass
Golden aspens and historic mountain scenery
Boreas Pass is especially magical in autumn.
The historic road winds through forests and open mountain landscapes, offering beautiful stops along the way. When the aspens turn gold, the whole landscape feels like it’s been dipped in sunlight.
It’s one of those locations where the drive itself becomes part of the wedding day.
You can stop for portraits, wander through the trees, explore mountain views, and enjoy being together.
Perfect for:
- Fall elopements
- Golden aspens
- Scenic drives
- Couples who want minimal hiking
- Sunrise and sunset portraits
Hoosier Pass
High-alpine scenery without needing a full-day expedition
Just south of Breckenridge, Hoosier Pass offers sweeping mountain views and a true high-country feeling.
The landscape changes dramatically as you climb higher, opening up to alpine tundra, rugged peaks, and wildflowers during summer.
For couples who want that dramatic Colorado mountain look but don’t necessarily want to spend their entire wedding day hiking, Hoosier Pass can be a beautiful option.
Perfect for:
Summer wildflowers
High-alpine landscapes
Adventurous couples
Mountain portraits
Sunrise adventures

What About Blue Lakes?
You may see Blue Lakes mentioned on older Breckenridge elopement guides.
I would not plan your ceremony there.
Current 2026 planning resources identify Blue Lakes as private property and not open to weddings, so I don’t recommend using it as a ceremony location.
Plenty of other beautiful places around Breckenridge can create an incredible experience without putting your wedding day—or the landscape—at risk.
The Best Seasons to Elope in Breckenridge
Breckenridge changes completely throughout the year.
There isn’t necessarily one “best” season.
The best season is simply the one that fits your vision.
Summer | July–August
Summer brings long days, wildflowers, green forests, alpine lakes, and access to many of the area’s mountain trails.
This is an incredible season for couples who want to spend several hours exploring.
Start with sunrise.
Hike into the mountains.
Exchange vows beside a lake.
Stop for lunch.
Take a scenic drive.
And finish the day with sunset portraits.
Summer highlights:
- Wildflowers
- Alpine lakes
- Hiking
- Scenic drives
- Long daylight hours
- Comfortable daytime temperatures
Early mornings are especially beautiful—and generally quieter—than midday.
Fall | Mid-September–Early October
If golden aspens are your dream, fall is the season.
Breckenridge and the surrounding mountains become covered in brilliant shades of yellow and gold.
The air turns crisp.
The crowds begin to thin.
And the afternoon light becomes beautifully warm.
This is one of the most sought-after times for Colorado elopements, so if you’re dreaming of peak fall color, I recommend planning early.
Fall highlights:
- Golden aspen forests
- Crisp mountain mornings
- Beautiful golden light
- Scenic mountain drives
- Cooler hiking temperatures
- Romantic portraits
Fall in Breckenridge is pure Colorado magic.
Winter | November–April
Winter transforms Breckenridge into a completely different world.
Snow-covered peaks.
Evergreen forests.
Cozy cabins.
Ski lifts.
Snowshoeing.
Warm drinks after an outdoor adventure.
And those quiet snowy moments when everything feels softer.
A winter elopement doesn’t have to mean standing outside in the snow for hours.
We can create a day that moves between adventure and warmth—getting ready together at your cabin, exploring the snowy mountains, exchanging vows, and ending the evening with a cozy dinner.
Winter highlights:
- Fresh snow
- Ski and snowboard adventures
- Snowshoeing
- Cozy cabins
- Winter portraits
- Romantic mountain evenings
Spring | May–June
Spring is a transition season in the Colorado mountains.
Snow can still be present at higher elevations while lower areas begin to wake up from winter.
This makes spring especially beautiful for couples who don’t mind unpredictable conditions and want a quieter experience.
You may find snowy peaks, rushing water, muddy trails, and a landscape slowly transitioning into summer.
Spring highlights:
- Fewer visitors
- Snow-covered peaks
- Rushing waterfalls
- Quiet mountain days
- Beautiful transitional scenery
An Intimate Mountain Elopement
Some couples want the entire day to be about the two of them.
No large guest list.
No complicated timeline.
Just a quiet morning, an adventurous location, meaningful vows, and time to actually enjoy being married.
This is where Breckenridge shines.
We can build the day slowly—starting at your cabin, heading into the mountains, exploring a few different landscapes, and ending with dinner and a celebration that feels completely personal.
A Golden Aspen Elopement
There is something almost surreal about standing beneath the aspens when they turn gold.
The light filters through the leaves.
The mountains begin to glow.
And suddenly even the simplest moments feel cinematic.
For couples planning a fall Breckenridge elopement, I love creating space for the two of you to wander, explore, and soak in the landscape rather than rushing from one photograph to the next.
A High-Alpine Adventure
For the adventurous couple, your wedding day can be an actual adventure.
We can begin below treeline and slowly make our way higher into the mountains.
You might exchange vows beside an alpine lake or stand above treeline with the wind moving through your clothes and the mountains stretching endlessly behind you.
These are the moments that make adventure elopements so special.
You’re not just documenting the wedding.
You’re remembering how it felt to be there.
How I Photograph Breckenridge Elopements
I don’t want you spending your wedding day posing for photographs.
I want you living it.
I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I’ll also give you space.
We’ll walk.
We’ll explore.
We’ll stop when something catches your eye.
We’ll let the wind move through your veil.
We’ll laugh when the hike gets a little harder than expected.
We’ll take photographs that feel natural, romantic, and cinematic—but we’ll also make sure you’re actually experiencing the day.
My goal is for you to look through your gallery years from now and remember more than how everything looked.
I want you to remember how it felt.
Planning Your Breckenridge Elopement
This is where I come in.
You don’t need to spend months trying to figure out which mountain location is actually accessible, where the best light will be, how much hiking you want to do, or how to fit everything into one day.
I’ll help you create a plan around you.
That can include:
- Location recommendations
- Timeline planning
- Permit guidance
- Sunrise and sunset planning
- Hiking and accessibility considerations
- Backup plans for changing mountain weather
- Photography guidance
- Vendor recommendations
- Ideas for activities throughout your day
- Places to stay and celebrate
- A photography experience that feels natural and effortless
You bring the person you love.
I’ll help you create the adventure.
Your Breckenridge Elopement Should Feel Like You
Your perfect wedding day is standing above the clouds at sunrise.
Maybe it’s a quiet ceremony beside Lake Dillon.
Maybe it’s running through golden aspens in September.
Maybe it’s snowshoeing through a winter forest and warming up beside a fire afterward.
Maybe it’s all of those things.
There is no right way to elope in Breckenridge.
There is only your way.
And that’s what makes these days so meaningful.
Your wedding doesn’t need to be bigger.
It needs to be more intentional.
More time together.
More adventure.
More meaning.
More of the little moments that you’ll remember long after the flowers are gone and the dress is packed away.
If you’re dreaming about a Breckenridge elopement surrounded by Colorado’s mountains, I’d love to help you create a day that feels honest, adventurous, romantic, and completely yours.
