Their Love Story
Some love stories begin with fireworks.
Bethany and Shaun’s began with friendship.
They first met in the fall of 2009 during Bethany’s freshman year at Baylor University. Both were part of the LEAD Living Learning Community in the Allen and Dawson Residence Halls, where they quickly became friends.
For years, friendship was all it was.
It wasn’t until Bethany’s senior year that everything changed.
She decided to make the first move.
“Not surprising,” she laughs.
From that moment on, their friendship became something much deeper.
The next chapter of their relationship required patience and commitment. While Bethany attended dental school, the two navigated a long-distance relationship for several years, proving that love isn’t measured by miles but by the willingness to keep choosing each other every single day.
Then came October 24, 2015—Bethany’s half birthday.
After the Baylor Homecoming game, Shaun asked the question that would change both of their lives forever.
She said yes.
Soon afterward, Shaun packed up his life and moved to Denver so they could finally begin building their future together.
Now, surrounded by Colorado’s breathtaking mountain landscapes, they were preparing to celebrate the next chapter of their story.
Shaun’s Version
Shaun tells their love story a little differently…
“It was a classic tale of boy meets girl. Girl says, ‘Who are you? Shut your mouth! Get out of here!’ Somehow, boy and girl still become friends. Years later, boy slowly catches feelings. Boy eventually escapes the friend zone. They start dating, much to the surprise of absolutely no one.
Boy moves away for graduate school and somehow survives long distance. Boy definitely does not cry very manly tears when leaving. Boy comes home, proposes to girl after Baylor Homecoming, girl says yes, boy moves to Denver, and together they begin planning a wedding.
Boy and girl disagree on things like photographers and wedding cake.
Girl gets her way.
Boy realizes things are better that way anyway.”
Honestly, we couldn’t have said it any better ourselves.
Their story is a beautiful reminder that the strongest relationships are often built on years of friendship, laughter, unwavering support, and choosing each other through every season of life.
And now, their Colorado mountain adventure is just getting started.
