Rocky Mountain National Park Adventure | Brett + Laura | Trail Ridge Road Couples Session

A Spring Adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park

There is something magical about spring in Rocky Mountain National Park.

As Trail Ridge Road slowly awakens from winter, the alpine tundra transforms into a landscape bursting with life. Snowmelt spills over rocky cliffs into tiny waterfalls, vibrant calypso orchids sway in the mountain breeze, elk and bighorn sheep return to their summer ranges, and hummingbirds once again fill the air above the wildflowers.

It’s one of my favorite times to explore Colorado’s high country.

If you’re willing to wander beyond the paved overlooks and follow the quiet trails less traveled, you’ll discover a side of Rocky Mountain National Park that feels wonderfully untouched. The golden light at sunset stretches across the tundra, painting the mountains in soft hues that seem almost unreal.

This is exactly where Brett and Laura’s adventure began.

A Couple Meant to Find Each Other

I first met Laura while photographing an editorial feature for Rocky Mountain Bride about finding the perfect wedding dress.

From the moment we met, I was drawn to her warm spirit and contagious smile. I secretly hoped that one day I’d have the opportunity to photograph her alongside the love of her life in the Colorado mountains.

That dream became reality.

Their session perfectly reflected who they are—adventurous, joyful, and completely at ease together.

A Love Story Built on Serendipity

Sometimes the best stories begin entirely by chance.

Years ago, Brett had just returned from an overseas Marine deployment and was spending a weekend in Washington, D.C. Laura happened to be visiting her sister when an old college friend invited them to dinner.

The only available seat beside Brett became the beginning of everything.

A casual conversation about cell phones turned into exchanged phone numbers, countless conversations, and eventually an invitation to the Marine Corps Birthday Ball in South Carolina.

That weekend changed both of their lives.

Several years later, Brett returned to Washington, D.C., where he knelt before Laura at the Lincoln Memorial and asked her to spend forever with him.

She said yes.

Today they call Colorado home, where they built a life together surrounded by the mountains they love.

Sunset Along Trail Ridge Road

For their Rocky Mountain National Park adventure, we chased golden light across Trail Ridge Road as the alpine tundra came alive after a long Colorado winter.

Wildflowers stretched across the landscape while snow still clung to distant peaks, creating one of the most spectacular backdrops imaginable.

Laura carried an exquisite bouquet designed by the talented Cat of Westerwisp Floral, inspired by the colors and textures of Colorado’s alpine wilderness. Hair and makeup by Lisa Bartley enhanced the natural, effortless feel of the evening without distracting from the breathtaking scenery.

Everything came together perfectly.

Not because every detail was planned to perfection—but because Brett and Laura were simply present with each other.

They laughed, explored, danced through the wildflowers, and soaked in every quiet moment as the sun disappeared behind the Continental Divide.

Kind Words from Brett & Laura

“Working with Justyna was nothing short of an adventure. She invested in our experience long before our session even began, scouting the perfect location in Rocky Mountain National Park with breathtaking views.

She made us feel comfortable from the very beginning and knew exactly when to gently guide us while allowing our personalities to shine through naturally.

Justyna is incredibly passionate about her craft, and the images she created are absolutely magical. We couldn’t be happier with our Rocky Mountain National Park adventure and our time with her.”
